
Jaipur, April 10 Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday said that women will play a key role in achieving the goal of a 'Developed India', and asserted that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act will enhance their participation in politics.
Addressing the 'Nari Shakti Vandan' programme at the chief minister's residence, Sharma said the Act paves the way for 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
He said the government is committed to women's empowerment across sectors and urged women to pursue their aspirations, assuring full support from the state.
Highlighting various central and state schemes, Sharma said initiatives such as Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Stand-Up India and self-help groups have strengthened women economically.
Sharma said under the 'Lakhpati Didi' initiative, over 16 lakh women in the state have been brought into the category after training around 20 lakh women.
He said the state government has increased financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana to Rs 6,500, benefiting over 11.58 lakh pregnant women with a total outlay of Rs 576 crore.
Later, the chief minister chaired a high-level meeting at the police headquarters to review the law and order situation in the state.
He directed officials to take strict and swift action against organised crime, gangsters, cybercrime, narcotics and cheating rackets, and emphasised the adoption of modern technology in policing.
Sharma also instructed police to act with zero tolerance against crime and improve traffic management across the state.
Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham, Chief Secretary V Srinivas and Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, along with senior officials, were present in the meeting.
