Women's Safety and Justice Denied: UP MP's Allegations.webp

Amethi (UP), March 29 Local Congress MP Kishori Lal Sharma alleged on Sunday that the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh has collapsed, claiming that FIRs are not being registered, women are unsafe, and the land mafia has become dominant.

Citing a recent incident in Barabanki, Sharma said, "The brutal killing of a youth, where his head was severed, and an attempt was made to burn the body, is a glaring example of the deteriorating law and order situation."

Addressing reporters in Amethi, the MP claimed that victims are often denied justice at police stations. "FIRs are not being registered, and people are running from pillar to post. Despite tall claims of 'Mission Shakti', our sisters and daughters are not safe. Such cases are reaching us regularly," he said, adding that the government's claims on law and order are "completely hollow."

Regarding development in Amethi, Sharma claimed that most of the development work occurred before 2014 and that the BJP-led governments have neglected the constituency since then. "After 2014, work in Amethi has been driven by a sense of vendetta. Projects like the Mega Food Park, Hindustan Paper Mill and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology have been taken away," he said.

When questioned about the poor condition of roads in Amethi, Sharma placed the responsibility on the BJP governments at both the Centre and the state level.

"Neither the Centre nor the state is under my party's control. There is a minister from this district in the UP government, along with BJP MLAs and a district panchayat chairman, yet no attention is being paid," he noted, adding that he is making continuous efforts to improve road conditions as quickly as possible.

Earlier, Sharma held a meeting with party office-bearers at the Congress office, emphasising the growing importance of social media. "In today's world, social media is a powerful tool to amplify people's voices and expose the anti-people policies of the government," he stated.

The MP also announced that a special training workshop would soon be organised to train party functionaries while emphasising the importance of organisational strength.

"A strong organisation is the foundation of development. All development works are being carried out with the consent and suggestions of our workers," he said.

With an eye on the upcoming panchayat elections and the 2027 assembly polls, Sharma urged party workers to prepare with seriousness and dedication.

"Workers will have greater participation in the panchayat elections. A framework for bi-monthly assembly-wise meetings should be established to ensure better coordination between the organisation, office-bearers, and public representatives," he said.
