Bankura (West Bengal), April 2 – Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched a strong attack on the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal on Thursday, alleging that Bangladeshi infiltrators were being encouraged while Hindus faced humiliation under the rule of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Addressing media persons on the sidelines of a programme organised for the filing of nomination papers by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, Yadav said that the people of Bengal are fed up with the Mamata Banerjee government.
“In Mamata’s government, infiltrators were encouraged and Hindus were humiliated,” CM Mohan Yadav said.
He claimed that under the Trinamool Congress regime, Bangladeshi infiltrators were patronized in a manner that led to the systematic humiliation of the Hindu community.
The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister added that in a democracy, elections provide an opportunity for people to "settle the score" for the wrongs committed during the last 15 years of Trinamool Congress rule.
Mohan Yadav’s remarks come as the BJP intensifies its campaign in West Bengal, where Assembly elections are scheduled in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The results will be announced on May 4.
The infiltration issue has emerged as a major plank for the BJP in the state. Senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have repeatedly accused the Trinamool Congress government of converting infiltrators into voters for political gains and turning Bengal into a “den for infiltrators and criminals”.
Mohan Yadav’s visit and remarks are being seen as part of the BJP’s strategy to consolidate Hindu votes and highlight alleged failures of the Trinamool Congress government on issues of illegal immigration, law and order, and appeasement politics.
The Trinamool Congress has dismissed such allegations as baseless and politically motivated, maintaining that the state government has been working for the welfare of all communities.
With nomination filing underway and campaigning gaining momentum, the infiltration and demographic change narrative is likely to dominate the electoral discourse in the coming weeks.
