
April 2, Kohima: Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, of Nagaland, today inaugurated a series of new educational facilities at PM Shri Government High School, New Market, including an Atal Tinkering Lab, Science Lab, ICT/Computer Lab, Library room, and Vocational Lab.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Yhome praised the New Market community for supporting the school, highlighting the importance of community-based schools in serving economically weaker sections.
He noted the increasing enrolment, including students transferring from private schools, and emphasized the need for continued community support.
He lamented the preference for private education, stating that government schools have qualified teachers and comparable infrastructure.
To improve standards, he cited the formation of the Nagaland School Standards Authority and reforms focused on infrastructure, governance, and curriculum.
Acknowledging issues such as surplus and underperforming teachers, he said that reforms are underway.
On the occasion, speeches were delivered by MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso and Commissioner and Secretary, School Education and SCERT, Nagaland, Kevileno Angami.
