
Students deliberate on “50 Years of Emergency – Lessons for India” at Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament in Kulgam.
Feb 27, Srinagar: A Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament was held on Thursday at Government Degree College Kulgam in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat, focusing on the theme “50 Years of Emergency – Lessons for India.”
MLA Kulgam M.Y. Tarigami participated virtually as the chief guest. He praised the college for organizing the program and emphasized the importance of youth participation in democratic processes.
Students enthusiastically participated, engaging in discussions on the historical significance of the Emergency and its long-term impact on Indian democracy.
The Youth Parliament provided a platform for students to express their views, strengthen democratic values, and deepen their understanding of constitutional principles.
Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shahzad Alam attended as a special guest and commended the college administration and Mera Yuva Bharat for organizing the event. He encouraged students to remain informed, responsible, and proactive citizens.
Principal Mohd Abass Shah and faculty members were also present. They emphasized the importance of learning from historical events to build a stronger and more inclusive India.
The event concluded with students reaffirming their commitment to democratic ideals and the vision of a developed and progressive nation.
