
A youth parliament programme was organized at Government Degree College, Kathua, involving enthusiastic participation from students of various degree colleges.
During the event, participants discussed the theme "Fifty Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy," highlighting the importance of democratic values and constitutional safeguards. The students reflected on the historical period of the Emergency and discussed its relevance in the present context, emphasizing the importance of freedom of expression, institutional integrity, and citizens' rights.
Former MLA Charanjit Singh Jasrotia described the topic as highly relevant for young people in contemporary times. He encouraged students to deeply understand democratic principles and actively contribute as responsible citizens.
The programme aimed to enhance students' understanding of the parliamentary system and promote informed, logical, and constructive discussions on important national issues.
