New Delhi, March 18 Zinc prices fell by nearly 1 per cent to Rs 316.25 per kilogram in futures trading on Wednesday due to bearish sentiment in the domestic market amid weak global trends.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), zinc for March delivery declined by Rs 3.05, or 0.96 per cent, to Rs 316.25 per kilogram in a trading volume of 2,227 lots.
Similarly, the April contract also declined by Rs 3.25, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 319.25 per kg in 2,088 lots.
Analysts said zinc prices were under pressure due to cautious sentiment and a lack of strong demand signals in the industrial metals segment.
In overseas trading, zinc futures on the London Metals Exchange (LME) declined by USD 38.55, or 1.19 per cent, to USD 3,193.10 per metric tonnes.
According to analysts, the weakness in prices was due to negative global cues and ongoing macroeconomic uncertainties, which have weighed on base metals.
