
New Delhi, March 21 The Delhi zoo experienced a significant increase in visitors, with approximately 18,000 people attending on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, coinciding with the International Day of Forests.
According to a statement, the large turnout created a vibrant atmosphere at the zoo, with nearly 1,500 visitors participating in a drawing activity focused on raising awareness about forest conservation and biodiversity. In addition, around 18,000 people visited the zoo during the Eid holiday.
As part of the day's activities, students from the Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences were taken on a guided tour of the zoo, where they were briefed on the various animal enclosures and their ecological significance.
The statement also mentioned that around 60 students participated in an interactive session that focused on the role of zoos in wildlife conservation, environmental education, and biodiversity preservation.
The program concluded with an interaction with the zoo director, who shared insights into ongoing conservation efforts and the functioning of the facility.
Plantation drives were also conducted within the premises to mark the occasion, and it was stated that 58 shrubs of different species were planted at a newly renovated bird enclosure, aimed at improving habitat conditions and enhancing green cover.
The events were organized to raise awareness about the importance of forests and sustainable environmental practices among visitors.
