Accused is Mother's Lover; Police Detain Mother for Questioning
Guwahati, May 11 — In a chilling case that has sent shockwaves through the city, a 10-year-old boy was brutally murdered and his body stuffed into a suitcase, which was later found dumped in a bush near the Basistha temple area of Guwahati.The police launched a probe on Saturday after the child’s mother reported him missing, stating that he had not returned home after attending tuition classes. During the course of the investigation, the police discovered the suitcase containing the boy's body in a bush, Deputy Commissioner (East) of Guwahati Police, Mrinal Deka, confirmed.
“Following initial leads, we interrogated the mother’s partner who confessed to the crime and led us to the location where the suitcase was abandoned,” Deka said.
The accused has been arrested, while the boy’s mother has also been detained and is currently being interrogated to determine her possible involvement in the crime.
A forensic team, along with CID officials, visited the crime scene to collect evidence. The boy’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, which is scheduled for Monday.
Police investigations are ongoing to establish the complete motive behind the murder and the role, if any, of the mother in the heinous act.
