Jammu, Feb 2 (PTI) – Tragedy struck a remote village in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday when an 11-year-old boy lost his life, and his six-year-old sister sustained severe injuries following the collapse of a mud house wall, police said.
The incident took place in Paundal village in the Lathi area, where labourers were engaged in the construction of a mud house belonging to Ashok Kumar. As work was underway, one of the walls suddenly collapsed, trapping Kumar’s two children who were playing nearby.
Locals and workers rushed to rescue the siblings and shifted them to a nearby hospital. However, Pradeep Kumar, 11, was declared dead on arrival, while his sister, Monika Devi, 6, is undergoing treatment for serious injuries.
Authorities have taken note of the incident and initiated an inquiry into the circumstances that led to the collapse.
