CM Rekha Gupta Hails PM Modi for Expanding Piped Gas to Rural Delhi

New Delhi, May 15 – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday for enabling piped gas supply to rural parts of the capital, marking a significant step in energy accessibility.

Gupta spoke at an event marking the inauguration of piped gas connections in 111 villages across Delhi. She highlighted the shift from traditional fuel sources to clean energy, stating, "Nobody had thought there would be a 24-hour supply of piped gas. The urban areas had started getting access to a piped gas supply, but it was not available in rural areas. It was on the PM's call that this was made possible."

The Chief Minister also assured that the remaining 116 villages in Delhi would receive access to piped natural gas by the end of the year, aiming for complete coverage across rural Delhi.

Speaking at the same event, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena emphasized the government's commitment to improving civic amenities. He remarked, "Every minister of the Delhi government is involved in providing facilities to the people of Delhi."

Saxena added that the efforts will significantly change the city's infrastructure landscape. “In the next two to two-and-a-half years, the changed face of Delhi will be visible,” he said.

The rollout of piped natural gas is a key development in providing clean, uninterrupted energy to underserved regions, aligning with the government’s broader inclusive urban and rural development agenda.
