Imphal, May 14 – Security forces in Manipur arrested 12 militants linked to various proscribed outfits and two arms dealers in a series of coordinated operations on Tuesday, according to police sources.

Among those apprehended were four cadres of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA), two members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), and one from the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL). These seven individuals were detained near Yongkhul village in the Tengnoupal district.

The crackdown extended to other regions of the state as well. Two KCP (PWG) operatives were captured from Lilong Nungei and Wangbal areas in Thoubal district, while two members of the PREPAK outfit were arrested at Koirengei Kabui Khul Gate in Imphal East.

In another significant arrest, an active member of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF-Pambei group), who also allegedly dealt in arms, was apprehended from Puhkhao Ahallup Makha Leikai in Imphal East district.

Additionally, two more suspected arms dealers were taken into custody on the same day. Authorities recovered a rifle along with ammunition from the arrested individuals.

Police said the operations were part of an ongoing effort to curb insurgent activities and illegal arms trade in the region. Investigations are underway.
