Imphal, May 14 – In a significant crackdown, security forces in Manipur arrested 12 militants affiliated with various proscribed outfits from multiple districts on Tuesday, according to police sources.

Among those apprehended were four cadres of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA), two members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), and one militant from the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), all arrested near Yongkhul village in Tengnoupal district.

Further arrests took place in Thoubal district, where two members of the outlawed KCP (PWG) faction were caught from Lilong Nungei and Wangbal. Additionally, two cadres of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) were detained near Koirengei Kabui Khul Gate in Imphal East.

Police also confirmed the arrest of three arms dealers, including an active member of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) Pambei group, from Puhkhao Ahallup Makha Leikai in Imphal East. A rifle and a cache of ammunition were seized from their possession.

The operation marks a robust effort by security agencies to curtail insurgent activity and illegal arms trade in the region.
