18 Devotees Injured as Tractor-Trolley Overturns in Etawah During Navratri Return

Tragic incident occurs near Kiratpur village; five critically injured shifted to Saifai Medical College

Etawah (Uttar Pradesh), April 3 — At least 18 devotees sustained injuries when a tractor-trolley overturned in Etawah district while returning from the Brahmani Devi temple amid Navratri festivities, according to police officials.

The accident occurred on Wednesday evening as a group of 35 devotees was en route to Chitrahat in Agra after offering prayers at the Brahmani Devi temple. As the vehicle neared Kiratpur village, it reportedly lost control and overturned, trapping several passengers beneath the trolley.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Abhay Nath Tripathi confirmed the details of the incident, stating that local residents quickly responded to the cries for help. They initiated rescue efforts before police teams arrived at the scene.

“Eighteen people were injured and taken to the Community Health Centre in Jaswantnagar. Of them, five who suffered serious injuries were referred to Saifai Medical College for advanced treatment,” Tripathi said.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the mishap. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of using tractor-trolleys for passenger transport during religious events, a common practice in rural regions.
