18 Rescued After Fishing Trawler Catches Fire Near Alibag Coast in Maharashtra

In a swift rescue operation, 18 people aboard a fishing trawler were safely evacuated after the vessel caught fire near the coast of Alibag in Maharashtra's Raigad district early Friday morning.

According to local authorities, the blaze broke out at around 4 AM when the fishing trawler was approximately seven nautical miles off the Akshi coast in Alibag.

A distress signal from the vessel, owned by Rakesh Gan, immediately alerted rescue services. Responding promptly, teams from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and Raigad police coordinated the rescue efforts, successfully bringing all 18 crew members to safety.

No injuries or casualties have been reported so far, and all rescued persons are confirmed safe and brought ashore.

Local police are investigating the incident to ascertain the cause of the fire.
