22-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Killing Mother-in-Law in Jalna After Domestic Dispute

Accused fled after failing to dispose of body; police arrest her from Parbhani

Jalna, Maharashtra – April 3, 2025: A 22-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly murdering her mother-in-law in Jalna district, Maharashtra, following a heated argument on Tuesday night. The accused, identified as Pratiksha Shingare, was taken into custody from Parbhani city on Wednesday, police officials confirmed.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopany, the accused had married Akash Shingare six months ago. While Akash works at a private company in Latur, Pratiksha was living with his mother, Savita Shingare (45), in a rented house located in Priyadarshni Colony, Jalna.

Argument Escalates into Fatal Attack

Police sub-inspector Rajendra Wagh stated that an argument broke out between the two women on Tuesday night. During the confrontation, Pratiksha allegedly slammed Savita's head against a wall and later attacked her with a kitchen knife, resulting in her death.

In an attempt to conceal the crime, Pratiksha reportedly stuffed the body into a bag, intending to dispose of it. However, she was unable to move the bag due to its weight. She fled the house around 6 a.m. on Wednesday and boarded a train to her native town, Parbhani.

Discovery of the Body and Arrest

The landlord of the rented property discovered the body inside the bag and immediately informed the police. Authorities launched a search operation and successfully traced and arrested Pratiksha from Parbhani later that day.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim died from head injuries. Further investigation into the case is ongoing, officials added.
