Migrant Labourers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar Among the Victims
Una (Himachal Pradesh), May 17 – At least 26 people, including a child, sustained injuries after a tempo carrying migrant workers overturned late Friday night in the Dhusada area of Una district, officials confirmed on Saturday.According to police, the accident occurred when the tempo driver swerved abruptly to avoid a collision with another vehicle. The vehicle, which was ferrying labourers back from farm work in Panoh, lost control and overturned during the maneuver.
Most of the injured passengers are migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The group had traveled to Panoh earlier in the day for agricultural work and was returning to Dhusada when the mishap occurred.
Locals rushed to the scene after hearing cries for help. Emergency response teams used 108 ambulances to transport the injured to a nearby hospital.
One child suffered serious injuries and has been referred to PGI Chandigarh for advanced treatment.
A case has been registered in connection with the accident. Superintendent of Police Amit Yadav stated that an investigation is currently underway.
