Civil Aviation Authorities Move to Resume Flight Operations in Northern and Western India
Mumbai, May 12 — In a significant development following the recent military standoff between India and Pakistan, civil aviation authorities are set to reopen 32 temporarily shut airports for civilian flight operations. The closures had been in effect since May 9 and were initially scheduled to last until May 15.According to official sources, a formal announcement regarding the resumption of operations is expected soon. The affected airports include key hubs such as Srinagar and Amritsar, along with several others located across the northern and western regions of the country.
In coordination with other aviation regulators, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had earlier issued a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), outlining the temporary suspension of services as a precautionary measure in light of escalating tensions.
The reopening of these airports is likely to relieve thousands of passengers and airlines whose schedules were disrupted over the past few days.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety and normalcy of air operations in the region.
