Karur tragedy: Omni bus collides with tractor and tourist van, leaves a trail of destruction
Karur, Tamil Nadu – In a tragic road accident near Semmadai in Karur district on Saturday, at least four people lost their lives and 15 others were injured when an omni bus collided with a tractor and subsequently crashed into a tourist van, police said.The horrific chain of events began when the omnibus, travelling from Bangalore to Nagercoil, rammed into a tractor on the Karur-Salem Highway. The force of the collision caused the bus to veer off course, smashing through the highway median and crashing head-on into a tourist van that was heading towards Karur from Thoothukudi.
Among the deceased was the driver of the tourist van, police confirmed. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby government hospital, where they currently receive treatment.
The impact of the crash caused significant damage to the front sections of all three vehicles involved—the omnibus, the tractor, and the van.
Authorities have registered a case and launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause and sequence of the accident. As the probe continues, further details are awaited.
