An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Nepal early Friday morning, sending tremors across several parts of Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, and other border districts.
The quake occurred at approximately 2:35 am, with its epicenter in Nepal's Bagmati region, according to Umesh Kumar Singh, a meteorologist from Bihar’s Disaster Management Department (DMD). "Tremors lasting a few seconds were felt particularly in districts along the Indo-Nepal border," Singh added.
Residents in Muzaffarpur, Siwan, Patna, Gopalganj, Saran, West Champaran, East Champaran, and nearby regions reported feeling the earthquake. Despite the early-hour panic, officials confirmed there were no immediate reports of damage to property or any casualties.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely for any aftershocks or related incidents.
