Bokaro, May 15 – A 52-year-old man was found dead with a bullet wound to the back of his neck in a forest area of Bokaro district, Jharkhand, on Thursday. The incident occurred in Baradih forest near Kukubilwa village, which falls under the Nawadih police station jurisdiction in a region affected by Naxalite activity.

The deceased, identified as Hemlal Pandit, was reportedly killed on Wednesday night. He was known in the area for practicing herbal medicine and often ventured into forest regions to supply herbs to local villagers.

Bermo Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) BN Singh confirmed the discovery of the body and stated, “An investigation has been initiated to ascertain whether this murder is linked to Maoists or not.”

Authorities said Pandit sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the back of his neck, just below the head. Further forensic and investigative procedures are underway to determine the motive behind the killing and any possible links to insurgent groups operating in the area.
