Hebri (Karnataka), Feb 3 (PTI) – The 64th edition of the esteemed Thingale Literature Fest is scheduled to take place on March 8 in Thingale, a small hamlet in Nadpalu village, Hebri taluk. This literary gathering, first inaugurated by the celebrated Indian polymath and novelist Shivaram Karanth, has remained a cultural highlight for six decades, attracting literature enthusiasts from nearby towns and villages.
Vikramarjuna Hegde, President of Thingale Prathistana, announced that this year’s event will be presided over by Raja Bahadur Khem Sawant Bhonsle from Sawantwadi. The festival will also host philanthropist Dr. H S Shetty and Mumbai-based professor Vijay Patrepekar as chief guests.
The event’s keynote lectures include a session by philosopher Veena Bannanje, who will discuss ‘Anubhava Mantapa,’ and a historical talk by orator Srikanth Shetty Karkala on ‘Sawantwadi in the Pages of History.’ Bannanje, a longstanding contributor to the fest, will be delivering her 10th lecture, following in the footsteps of her late father, Bannanje Govindacharya, who had delivered 44 talks at the festival over his lifetime.
Founded by Thingale Ravindra Hegde, the literary fest has grown in significance over the years, fostering a deep appreciation for literature among people of all ages. This annual gathering continues to uphold its legacy, bringing together intellectuals, historians, and literary enthusiasts to celebrate the power of words.
