'90s nostalgia': Dalip Tahil posts photo from cricket match with 'Baazigar' co-star Shah Rukh Khan

New Delhi, Mar 2 — While Shah Rukh Khan and Dalip Tahil may have played bitter enemies on-screen in the iconic 1993 thriller Baazigar, the two stars shared a unique camaraderie off-screen in the 1990s, playing together on the same cricket team and emerging victorious.

In a nostalgic Instagram post shared on Saturday, Dalip Tahil delighted fans with a rare, never-before-seen photograph from an award ceremony of a celebrity cricket match held in Sharjah, UAE. The picture, captured in black-and-white, features the winning team, which included notable names like Shah Rukh Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Satish Shah, and Sheeba.

Tahil’s post highlights the fun memories of the match, with Chakraborty proudly holding the trophy as the rest of the players beam with joy. In the caption, Tahil reminisced: "SRK and I weren’t just Baazigars on screen, we brought the game to the field of Sharjah too. I scored 86* (not out), won the match, and if memory serves me right… took home a VCR. Who else can you recognize in this iconic frame? #goldtimes #90snostalgia."

The reference to Baazigar isn't just a playful nod. In the film, Tahil portrayed the villainous Madan Chopra, who destroys the Sharma family’s business, setting the stage for Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Ajay Sharma, to seek revenge under the alias of Vicky. The film was a major hit, cementing the bond between the two stars.

Directed by Abbas-Mustan, Baazigar also starred Kajol and marked the acting debut of Shilpa Shetty Kundra. The film remains a milestone in Hindi cinema, known for its gripping narrative and unforgettable performances.

For fans of Baazigar and the 90s era, this throwback moment brings a perfect blend of nostalgia and camaraderie, showing that even rivalries on-screen can lead to lasting friendships off-screen.
