Aadhaar Linking Delays Impact PM-KISAN Payments for Haryana & Punjab Farmers

Aadhaar Linking Delays Impact PM-KISAN Payments for Haryana & Punjab Farmers.webp

Thousands of farmers in both Punjab and Haryana are unable to benefit from the Central government's PM-KISAN scheme because they have not yet linked their Aadhaar cards to their bank accounts. Under the scheme, farmers receive a financial benefit of ₹6,000 per year in three equal installments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. Over 61,000 farmers in Punjab and almost the same number in Haryana are still waiting for their Aadhaar numbers to be linked to their bank accounts in order to receive the financial assistance. Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, stated in the Lok Sabha that the Ministry regularly conducts focused campaigns in coordination with States and Union Territories, Common Service Centres, and India Post Payments Bank to facilitate the linking of bank accounts to Aadhaar. Farmers are also being informed via SMS to ensure the linking of their bank accounts to Aadhaar, which will ensure uninterrupted disbursement of benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme.
