AAP Accuses BJP of Betraying Women in Delhi Over Unfulfilled Election Promise

New Delhi, March 2 – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of betraying the women of Delhi, alleging that the ruling party has failed to keep its promise of providing a monthly honorarium of Rs 2,500 to women in the city.

At a press conference in New Delhi, AAP legislator Kuldeep Kumar claimed that during the Delhi elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a pledge to launch the financial assistance scheme within the first Cabinet meeting of the new government. However, Kumar, the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kondli, asserted that no such initiative had materialized.

"Prime Minister Modi had assured that the scheme would be passed in the first Cabinet meeting. But it was not. We believed that, if not in the Cabinet, the issue would at least be addressed in the assembly session. But instead, BJP leaders spent the entire session criticizing Arvind Kejriwal, not even touching on the matter," Kumar said. "They have betrayed the women of Delhi."

The promise, made by the BJP during the Delhi Assembly elections, was to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women, a proposal that surpassed the AAP's offer of Rs 2,100. The BJP's electoral victory saw the party secure 48 out of 70 seats, leaving AAP with only 22 seats, and the Congress failing to win a single seat.

Kumar also reminded the BJP of the timeline set by the Prime Minister himself, emphasizing that the BJP-led Delhi government, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, was now poised to break that promise.

"The date of March 8, International Women's Day, was given by the Prime Minister and the BJP. The Rekha Gupta-led government is now on track to break that promise to the women of Delhi," he remarked.

With March 8 just around the corner, the AAP has pressed the BJP to clarify when the promised funds will begin to be credited to women's accounts.

"Women in Delhi are waiting for Rs 2,500. The BJP must tell them when the money will actually start arriving," Kumar added.

As the deadline looms, the pressure is mounting on the BJP to deliver on its electoral promises and provide clarity to the women of Delhi who are eagerly awaiting financial assistance.
