AAP Alleges BJP Workers Vandalized Campaign Van in New Delhi, Police Await Formal Complaint

New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers of vandalizing one of its campaign vans in the New Delhi constituency, where AAP chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is contesting the elections.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh shared a video on social media platform X, showing individuals tearing the campaign van’s wrappings and attempting to break its windshield. Singh criticized the Election Commission (EC), alleging its inaction, stating, “The EC has its office in New Delhi, but it is unable to see or hear anything. The EC is in a coma.”

Kejriwal also shared the video, amplifying the party’s concerns over election-related violence. He warned that if the BJP secures victory, it would "ruin" Delhi.

Meanwhile, New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Devesh Mahla clarified that no formal complaint or police control room call regarding the alleged incident had been received. Responding to Kejriwal’s post on X, the DCP urged AAP to file an official complaint, assuring strict legal action.

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal wrote to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, accusing BJP workers of engaging in “hooliganism and intimidation.” He urged the EC to deploy special election observers in the New Delhi constituency to ensure fair play.

As of now, the BJP has not issued any official response to AAP’s allegations.
