Delhi AAP Alleges Neglect of Middle Class Amid Soaring School Fees

New Delhi, April 4 – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led municipal administration in Delhi, accusing it of turning a blind eye to exorbitant fee hikes by private schools. Addressing the media, Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that some schools have increased fees by as much as 82%, burdening middle-class families already grappling with power cuts and inflation.

"Some schools have increased fees up to 20%, some 40%, some 65%, and some even up to 82%. The BJP government is, however, not taking any action, even as parents protest outside schools," Bharadwaj stated during a press conference.

“Middle Class Betrayed,” Says AAP

Highlighting the ongoing protests by parents outside several schools, Bharadwaj criticized the inaction of the administration led by Mayor Rekha Gupta. He argued that the BJP, which previously accused the AAP of ignoring the middle class, is now failing to uphold its own promises.

"After the issue of power cuts, this unjustified fee hike is yet another blow to the middle class. This is how the BJP is treating them after coming to power," Bharadwaj added.

Allegations of Harassment Against Students

In a serious accusation, Bharadwaj claimed that students whose parents have not been able to pay the revised fees are being subjected to harassment. "These children are being made to sit in libraries instead of classrooms," he alleged, calling it an act of discrimination.

BJP Yet to Respond

There has been no official response from the BJP regarding the allegations made by the AAP.

The controversy adds to the growing tension between Delhi’s ruling AAP and the BJP-led municipal body, especially on issues affecting the capital's middle class. With school admissions and fee structures already a contentious issue, the lack of immediate intervention could further deepen public frustration.
