New Delhi, February 27—Actors Abhishek Banerjee, Shahana Goswami, and Neeraj Kabi are set to appear in Mahasangam, an upcoming film set against the backdrop of the grand Maha Kumbh congregation in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Renowned filmmaker Bharat Bala, known for his 2013 Tamil film Maryan, will direct the project. Described as a "powerful exploration of family, legacy, and music," Mahasangam promises an emotionally charged narrative.
The film revolves around the intricate relationships between a father, son, and daughter as they grapple with a poignant struggle over a musical inheritance. Speaking about the film, Bala shared that Mahasangam is a tribute to the Maha Kumbh, the world's largest human gathering, which concluded on Wednesday.
“This story delves into deep layers of human emotions and unfolds amidst an extraordinary congregation of pilgrims. It is a journey of redemption, inheritance, and music, told through the lens of three compelling characters. I feel immensely proud and fortunate to direct this film, especially with such incredible talent supporting it,” Bala said.
Produced under the Virtual Bharat banner, Mahasangam will also feature music by the legendary composer A.R. Rahman.
The recently concluded Maha Kumbh, a 45-day sacred event that began on January 13 in Prayagraj, saw an astonishing footfall of over 65 crore visitors, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.
