Kolkata, Feb 2 (PTI) – Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee’s ambitious healthcare outreach programme, Sebaashray, marked its first month of operations on Sunday. The initiative, which has already served 23 lakh people, will continue for another one-and-a-half months, the party confirmed.

Launched on January 2 at Amtala, Sebaashray has made a significant impact across seven assembly constituencies, covering 71 rural gram panchayats and 93 urban wards. The large-scale programme is backed by a robust medical team comprising 1,200 doctors, 500 diagnosticians, 1,500 volunteers, and 12 referral hospitals.

Addressing the reach and effectiveness of the initiative, Banerjee emphasized the urgency of accessible healthcare. "Healthcare cannot wait for policy papers or election cycles. It demands URGENCY, COMMITMENT, and an UNYIELDING RESOLVE TO SERVE. That is precisely what #Sebaashray embodies. It's an initiative that does not STOP, does not SLOW DOWN, and does not SETTLE FOR LESS," he stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Through the Sebaashray camps, various health concerns have been addressed, providing crucial medical assistance to those in need. The initiative underscores TMC’s commitment to strengthening healthcare accessibility at the grassroots level.
