New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): A disease-free India, or 'Bimari Mukt Bharat,' is crucial for achieving the ambitious goal of a developed India, 'Viksit Bharat,' by 2047, according to social activist and entrepreneur Dr. Swapna Verma. She is leading a transformative initiative that brings tech-enabled diagnostic services to the doorsteps of rural and tribal communities.
Dr. Verma was among the 10 distinguished individuals selected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month during the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders' Dialogue-2025. Hailing from Satna district in Madhya Pradesh, she is the founder of the Madhurima Sewa Sanskar Sansthan, an organization dedicated to rural health initiatives.
During the National Youth Festival, where she participated in the dialogue, Dr. Verma presented her flagship project, Heal Rural India, to Prime Minister Modi. She emphasized the initiative's scalability and its potential to revolutionize healthcare accessibility in India's underserved regions.
She described her meeting as a proud and motivating moment that reaffirmed her commitment to the vision of a disease-free India.
Dr. Verma firmly believes that basic health screening should be a fundamental right for every citizen, ensuring a healthier and happier life. In line with this vision, her team is conducting comprehensive health screenings through technology-driven health camps. These camps are staffed with doctors, pharmacists, and lab technicians who conduct medical checkups and collect blood samples to assess individuals' health conditions.
Dr. Verma envisions that within a decade, the accumulated database will enable predictive healthcare, offering community-specific disease alerts. This proactive approach will play a crucial role in public health management, preventing diseases before they escalate.
The Heal Rural India project is currently being implemented in Satna district, with local employees of the Madhurima Sewa Sanskar Sansthan conducting door-to-door health awareness campaigns.
"This is not just a health camp, but a healing initiative aimed at building a stress-free society," she noted.
She pointed out that in India, diseases not only affect individuals but also disrupt families, communities, and the broader economy. The challenge is even greater for rural and tribal populations, where limited healthcare access exacerbates preventable deaths and suffering.
"By focusing on creating a ‘Bimari Mukt Bharat,’ we are addressing these challenges at their root, ensuring healthier, stronger communities that contribute to the nation’s overall development and progress," she concluded.
With a clear vision and a tech-driven approach, Dr. Swapna Verma's initiative stands as a beacon of hope, paving the way for a healthier and more developed India by 2047.
