Targeted College Students and IT Employees; Police Seize Nearly 2.6 kg of Synthetic Drugs​

Bengaluru, May 17 — The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a 40-year-old African national for allegedly peddling synthetic drugs in the city, primarily targeting college students and IT professionals. The police have seized MDMA valued at ₹4 crore during the operation.
The accused, identified as Daniel Arinze Okwosha, was residing in a rented apartment in Soladevanahalli, Bengaluru. He had arrived in the city on a business visa in December 2023. Acting on a tip-off from an informant, the CCB raided Okwosha’s residence and arrested him. His associate, who is also suspected of involvement in the drug trade, managed to escape.

A senior police official stated that Okwosha was allegedly sourcing the drugs from suppliers in other states as well as through local contacts in and around Bengaluru. The investigation revealed a deliberate strategy to target young adults in educational institutions and IT firms.
Efforts are underway to trace the absconding accomplice and dismantle the wider drug network involved in the operation.
