
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre concluded a two-day National Conference on combating cyber-enabled fraud and dismantling the supporting ecosystem in New Delhi yesterday. The conference included discussions on regulatory reforms, the use of artificial intelligence, and global cooperation to combat cybercrime. In a statement, the CBI said that participants discussed the emerging threat of cyber slavery, the recruitment of victims into overseas scam operations, and the need for preventive mechanisms, international cooperation, and rehabilitation frameworks. The role of social media platforms, messaging services, and digital intermediaries in facilitating fraud was also examined, with an emphasis on faster data sharing. The conference concluded with the sharing of best practices from successful cybercrime investigations and demonstrations of AI-driven tools that enhance investigative capabilities and inter-agency coordination.
