Chennai, March 3 – AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami has intensified his criticism of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, urging them to disclose the so-called "secret" their party, the DMK, claims to possess for cancelling the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The AIADMK chief's strong comments come following the tragic death of Indumathi, a student from Tindivanam in Villupuram district, who reportedly took her own life due to anxiety and fear surrounding NEET preparations.
Expressing deep shock and grief over the incident, Palaniswami extended his heartfelt condolences to Indumathi's grieving family, emphasizing the urgent need for action to prevent further NEET-related deaths in the state.
In a recent public meeting held at Theni on March 2, Palaniswami openly challenged the ruling DMK government, accusing it of engaging in a "political drama" and misleading Tamil Nadu students by repeatedly promising to abolish NEET. He further claimed that despite coming to power in 2021, the DMK leadership has yet to reveal its purported strategy or "secret" for abolishing the controversial examination.
Highlighting this issue further through social media, Palaniswami took to platform 'X,' directly addressing Stalin and his son Udhayanidhi: "The #Daddy_son should immediately disclose that NEET secret. If that is not done, they should admit the truth that the DMK lied."
Recalling the run-up to the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Palaniswami pointed out that DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin had explicitly claimed that his party knew the secret to cancelling NEET—a statement that significantly influenced students and parents across the state. The AIADMK leader alleged that such claims have only served to create false hopes and widespread confusion among students.
Palaniswami's demand comes amid growing public frustration and increasing political pressure on the DMK government to address student anxieties related to NEET effectively and transparently.
