Party Honors Leader's Request to Celebrate with Purpose Amid National Tensions
Chennai, May 12 — The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Monday commemorated the 71st birthday of its top leader Edappadi K Palaniswami with a series of socially driven initiatives across Tamil Nadu, aligning with his appeal for a subdued celebration.In the wake of the national unrest following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Palaniswami had urged party members to refrain from personal visits and celebratory gatherings on his birthday. Instead, he encouraged AIADMK cadre to mark the occasion through meaningful acts of service.
Heeding his call, party workers throughout the state organized blood donation camps and annadhanam (mass feeding)events at various locations, steering clear of the usual fanfare and festivity typically associated with the event.
Leaders and office-bearers from the AIADMK, along with allies including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), extended birthday wishes to Palaniswami, reaffirming their support and respect for his leadership and sentiments during a sensitive period for the nation.
