Jodhpur, February 26 – AIIMS Jodhpur has taken disciplinary action against three nursing students following a ragging complaint filed by a first-year student. Two students have been suspended and prohibited from participating in any academic activities, while a third has been let off with a stern warning, an official confirmed.
The decision, announced on Tuesday, came after an inquiry by a committee set up to investigate the allegations. According to AIIMS Jodhpur spokesperson Dr. Jeewan Ram Bishnoi, one student has been suspended for three months and the other for one month.
The alleged ragging took place on February 15 during a meeting of nursing students organized to prepare for the college freshers' party. The complainant reported the incident to the AIIMS administration, citing offensive remarks made by three senior students.
The inquiry committee confirmed the allegations, with the accused students admitting to making the remarks. They, however, claimed the comments were made in jest and were unaware they would deeply affect the complainant. Despite their apology, disciplinary action was taken to uphold the institute's zero-tolerance policy towards ragging.
AIIMS Jodhpur has reiterated its strict stance on ragging, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated within the institution.
