Allegations of Misinformation: BJP Challenges TMC's Response to Worker Deaths.webp

Today, the BJP accused the Trinamool Congress of spreading misinformation regarding the deaths of migrant workers from West Bengal in other states. At a press conference in Kolkata, BJP state spokesperson Debjit Sarkar alleged that the ruling party was attempting to create a divide between Bengalis and non-Bengalis by claiming that migrant workers were being targeted due to their linguistic identity. Referring to the recent death of a worker from Purulia in Pune, Maharashtra, Sarkar stated that there was no evidence that the victim was attacked for speaking Bengali, and added that the victim's brother told police that the motive and identity of the attackers were unknown. The BJP also questioned the state government regarding alleged lack of employment opportunities, claiming that it was forcing young people to migrate for work.
