New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd (ABD), India's third-largest spirits company, has successfully completed the acquisition of brands and Intellectual Property Rights from Fullarton Distilleries, strengthening its position in the super-premium spirits segment.
As part of this acquisition, ABD now owns a range of premium craft spirit brands, including Woodburns Contemporary Indian Whisky, Pumori Small Batch Gin, and Segredo Aldeia Rum, according to a joint statement released on Monday.
By integrating these award-winning brands into its portfolio, ABD aims to cater to the evolving preferences of luxury spirits consumers in India. While the company has not disclosed the financial details of the deal, it emphasized the strategic value of this move.
Woodburns, currently available in six states and union territories, has plans for further expansion into key markets. The acquisition is expected to leverage ABD’s operational scale, creating opportunities for accelerated growth and a stronger foothold in the premium spirits sector.
"The luxury segment is where we see a significant opportunity to add value. Acquiring these brands aligns perfectly with our premiumization strategy. This is more than just an acquisition—it reflects our deep understanding of where we can create the most impact," said Alok Gupta, Managing Director of ABD.
Rajiv Thadani, Founder and Managing Director of Fullarton Distilleries, expressed confidence in ABD’s ability to elevate these brands to greater heights. "We are proud to see these brands transition to ABD, a company with the scale, expertise, and vision to enhance their growth," he stated.
This acquisition underscores ABD’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the super-premium spirits category, reinforcing its position as a key player in India's evolving liquor industry.
