Alt News Co-founder Mohammad Zubair Files Complaint Over Threat, Doxxing Incident.webp

Bengaluru, May 13 – Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair has filed a police complaint after allegedly receiving threats and having his home address and mobile number leaked on social media.

Zubair, known for his work in fact-checking, claimed that the recent leak has resulted in threats of sending pork to his residence. Taking to the platform 'X' on Monday night, he said, "There are already life threats against me. This isn't the first time. The same person in 2023 had sent pork to my address and shared the shipping address on Twitter."

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the Bengaluru police confirmed that no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered yet. A senior police official stated, "We have received a complaint from him in this regard. But no FIR has been registered yet. The complaint will be transferred to the RT Nagar police station jurisdiction because he stays there."

Zubair expressed concern for his family's safety and highlighted the repeated nature of such threats. He also shared the social media handles allegedly responsible for leaking his personal information, saying, "There's a threat to me and my family staying at that address."

He further alleged that a similar complaint filed in the past was not pursued, as the FIR was closed after a few months. Urging authorities to act, he appealed to the city and state police to take the current threat seriously.

The incident raises renewed concerns over online harassment, privacy breaches, and the safety of journalists and activists in the digital age.
