New Delhi, Feb 28 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah has issued strict directives to the Delhi Police to take decisive action against networks facilitating the illegal entry of Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants into India. Chairing a high-level meeting to assess the law-and-order situation in the national capital, Shah emphasized that the matter is one of national security and must be dealt with rigorously.
During the meeting, Shah instructed authorities to identify and dismantle these networks, which assist illegal immigrants in obtaining documents and securing accommodations. He stressed the need for their identification and deportation to strengthen security measures.
Shah also called for stringent measures against consistently underperforming police stations and subdivisions, urging accountability within the force. Additionally, he directed the Delhi Police to prioritize the elimination of interstate gangs operating in the city, emphasizing a "top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top" approach in tackling drug-related crimes. He underlined the importance of dismantling drug trafficking networks to curb narcotics-related offenses effectively.
The meeting was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, and other senior officials. Discussions revolved around strengthening law enforcement mechanisms and improving the overall security framework in the capital.
