Veteran Actor Returns with Strong Message on Pahalgam Attack, Lauds Government's Military Response

New Delhi, May 11 – After weeks of silence following the Pahalgam terror attack, megastar Amitabh Bachchan returned to social media early Sunday morning with a powerful post addressing the tragedy and India's retaliatory action under 'Operation Sindoor'.

The 82-year-old actor had refrained from posting on X (formerly Twitter) and his blog since April 22, the day of the terror assault in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, including newlyweds on their honeymoon.

Condemns the Pahalgam Massacre

In an emotionally charged post, Bachchan expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, stating:

“The Pahalgam attack where they killed 26 innocent tourists… even a couple just married three days ago… will never be forgotten.”

Applauds Government's Swift Response

Bachchan hailed the Narendra Modi-led central government for launching ‘Operation Sindoor’, which reportedly targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. One of the strikes hit Bahawalpur, a major base of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit.

“The Government… launched a military procedure… the results of which are well known… 9 of their terrorist camps and outfits were destroyed… militarily,” the actor wrote.

Pays Tribute with ‘Agneepath’

Bachchan concluded his post with lines from his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan's iconic poem ‘Agneepath’, urging the Indian armed forces and citizens to remain resolute:

“Tu na thamega kabhi, tu na mudega kabhi, tu na jhukega kabhi, kar shapath, kar shapath, kar shapath, agneepath, agneepath, agneepath.”
He described the verses as both “an inspiration and a demand” to continue fighting against injustice, especially in light of the recent tragedy.

Ceasefire Tensions After Operation

Although India and Pakistan announced a mutual understanding on Saturday to halt military actions across land, air, and sea, tensions flared again within hours. In a late-night briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri accused Islamabad of breaching the newly established ceasefire.

Misri urged Pakistan to respond responsibly and take appropriate steps to address violations. Despite these tensions, no overnight ceasefire violations or drone activities were reported in Kashmir or Jammu regions, according to officials on Sunday.
