Amritsar Arrests: 5 Pistols Recovered in Weapons Trafficking Case.webp

Chandigarh, February 11 The Punjab Police has cracked a weapons trafficking module in Amritsar by arresting two individuals and recovering five sophisticated pistols from their possession, DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Wednesday.

The arrested individuals are Rohit Arora (25) and Harpreet Singh alias Happy (24), both residents of Amritsar district. The recovered weapons include three 9MM Glock pistols and two .30 bore pistols.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were in contact with Pakistani-based smugglers through social media, the DGP said.

The weapons were transported via drones, which the accused supplied further on the instructions of their handlers, he added.

An investigation is underway to dismantle the entire weapons racket, the officer said.

Sharing details, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that acting on specific intelligence, police arrested Rohit Arora, who is an associate of gangster Sonu Kangla.

During a search, three pistols were recovered from his possession, including one Glock and two .30 bore pistols, Bhullar said.

Following Rohit's disclosure, Harpreet Singh was also arrested with two Glock pistols.

Both are known offenders with previous cases under the Prisons Act, Arms Act, and the NDPS Act, Bhullar said.
