Sambhal, Feb 4 (PTI): The Sambhal district administration has embarked on an ambitious project to restore the ancient Chaturmukh Well as a 'model well' while also initiating the beautification of various religious and pilgrimage sites across the district.
According to officials, proposals for these development projects will soon be submitted to the state government for approval.
Speaking to reporters, Nagar Palika Executive Engineer Mani Bhushan Tiwari revealed that the district magistrate has personally surveyed all historical and religious sites in the area. "There are 19 ancient wells within the city, and restoration work is already underway," he said, highlighting that plans include better access routes, aesthetically designed entry gates, and informational boards to educate visitors.
Among the notable developments, efforts are being made to enhance the Bhadrak Ashram, Pap Mochan Teerth, Mrityunjay Teerth, and Shankh Madhav Teerth.
Regarding the Chaturmukh Well, Tiwari stated that it will be developed into a model well while ensuring its original architectural integrity is preserved using historical bricks. The site will be equipped with essential facilities to improve its accessibility and appeal to visitors.
For all pilgrimage sites, special entrance gates reflecting their historical and cultural significance will be constructed. Additionally, history, facts, and artistic depictions of Lord Kalki’s avatars will be displayed to educate visitors about the region's rich heritage.
Tiwari confirmed that proposals for 10 wells and three pilgrimage sites, including Bhadrak Ashram and Mrityunjay Mahateerth, are ready for submission. Plans for constructing a gate and boundary wall at Shankh Madhav Teerth, along with developing Pap Mochan Teerth under the Vandan Yojana, will also be sent to the state government soon.
This initiative marks a significant step in preserving Sambhal’s historical and religious legacy, ensuring that these sites continue to attract devotees and history enthusiasts alike.
