The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday announced a Rs 50 lakh ex gratia for Mudavath Murali Naik, the soldier who was martyred during the recent cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. The state also pledged additional benefits, including land and employment, to support the bereaved family.
As Naik’s mortal remains arrived in his native village in Sri Sathyasai district on Saturday night, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan personally visited the family on Sunday to pay his respects. In a heartfelt gesture, Kalyan also announced a personal contribution of Rs 25 lakh to the soldier’s family.
Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh, along with other ministers, offered floral tributes to the slain soldier and extended condolences to his grieving parents.“Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia, five acres of agricultural land, and 300 square yards of housing land for the family of Murali Naik. A government job will also be provided to a family member following Cabinet discussions,” said Kalyan.
The state government confirmed that Naik’s final rites will be conducted with full state honours, underscoring the deep respect for his ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.“The state bows in respect to Naik’s bravery. His service to the nation will not be forgotten,” Lokesh stated.
