Pawan Kalyan Expands Benefit to Active Servicemen as a Mark of Gratitude

Vijayawada, May 12 – In a significant move aimed at honouring the country's defence forces, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has announced a property tax exemption for homes owned by Indian Defence personnel within gram panchayat jurisdictions across the state.

The announcement, made via a post on X on Sunday night, marks an expansion of the earlier policy which limited the benefit to retired personnel and those posted at border areas. Under the revised scheme, all active defence personnel, regardless of their current deployment location, will now be eligible for the exemption.

“This decision honours the courage of the Army, Navy, Air Force, CRPF, and paramilitary forces. Their service to the nation is priceless,” Kalyan stated in the post, emphasizing the government’s deep respect for the nation’s uniformed defenders.

According to the Deputy CM, properties where the personnel themselves, their spouse, or both jointly reside or hold ownership will qualify for the tax exemption.

The policy shift follows a recommendation from the Director of Sainik Welfare, reflecting a broader recognition of the sacrifices made by defence personnel and their families.

This gesture by the Andhra Pradesh government is seen as a meaningful step in supporting and recognizing the invaluable contributions of servicemen and women across India.
