The Election Commission on Monday announced that biennial elections for five seats in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC), elected by members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), will be held on March 20, 2025.
In an official notification issued by Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh called upon the state's MLAs to elect five new members to the Legislative Council. Four current MLCs—D. Rama Rao, P. Ashok Babu, B. Tirumala Naidu, and Y. Ramakrishnudu—will retire on March 29. Additionally, one seat, previously held by MLC J. Krishna Murthy, has remained vacant since March 15, 2024.
The notification emphasized that the entire election process, including counting and announcement of results, will conclude by March 24.
