Los Angeles, May 20 – Hollywood star Andrew Garfield is in negotiations to headline The Rage, an upcoming historical drama directed by Paul Greengrass.

The film is set against the backdrop of the 1381 Peasants’ Revolt, a significant uprising that swept across England, fueled by socio-economic strife, political unrest, and high taxation. Garfield, 41, is poised to portray a farmer who rises to become the central figure leading the revolt.

The Rage was initially set to feature Matthew McConaughey in the lead role, but the Oscar-winning actor has since exited the project. The development was first reported by entertainment news outlet Deadline.

Known for his compelling performances in films like The Social Network, Hacksaw Ridge, and The Amazing Spider-Manseries, Garfield’s potential casting adds star power and dramatic weight to Greengrass’ ambitious historical epic.

Further production details and casting announcements are awaited as the project moves closer to finalization.
