Bengaluru brewery targeted in early morning heist, suspect escapes with cash
Bengaluru, May 12 – A theft occurred at the Geometry Brewery and Kitchen in North Bengaluru during the early hours of Sunday, with a masked intruder allegedly armed with a pistol breaking in and escaping with approximately Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 in cash, police officials confirmed on Monday. The incident took place between 3:30 am and 4:00 am at the brewery located on Gayatri Nagar Road, falling under the Subramanyanagar Police Station limits.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Saidulu Adavath, the suspect reportedly gained entry through the back door, taking advantage of the brewery's closure at 1:30 am. The establishment's cash counter was found broken open.
A security guard on duty stated that he spotted the suspect from a distance and believed the intruder was carrying a firearm. "The watchman said the thief had a weapon. On noticing the intruder, he shut the door and alerted the police between 4:30 and 5:00 am. However, when the police arrived, the suspect had already fled," DCP Adavath said.
The DCP added that although the guard claimed the suspect had a pistol, this detail remains unverified. "It is yet to be confirmed whether the thief was indeed carrying a firearm or if it was a misconception due to the distance and the mask worn by the intruder," he clarified.
Following the alert, police thoroughly searched the premises but did not locate the suspect. Investigators believe the thief may have exited through the kitchen or bathroom area, as the watchman did not witness the escape.
The CCTV cameras on the premises were found to be turned off at the time of the incident, adding to the complexity of the case. Authorities have since registered a First Information Report (FIR) and initiated a detailed investigation.
"Based on the complaint, we will proceed with the investigation. Only one person appears to be involved in the break-in," DCP Adavath confirmed.
The case continues to be under active investigation.
