India-Pakistan Ceasefire Under Strain Following Airspace Breach
New Delhi, May 10 — In a significant move following fresh ceasefire and airspace violations, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has granted full authority to Army commanders to undertake counteraction in the kinetic domain against any breach of the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire understanding.
On Saturday, India and Pakistan reached a pivotal agreement to halt all firings and military actions across land, air, and sea with immediate effect. However, tensions resurfaced quickly.
According to a statement from the Indian Army, the Chief of Army Staff conducted a security review with senior commanders posted along the western borders in response to ceasefire and airspace violations that occurred during the night of May 10–11.
"The Army Chief has granted full authority to Army Commanders for counteraction in the kinetic domain to any violation of the understanding reached vide the DGMO talks of May 10," the statement read.
The development underscores a firm military posture amidst efforts for de-escalation, signaling India’s readiness to respond decisively to any future infractions despite the ceasefire understanding.
