Raipur, Feb 4 (PTI) – The Chhattisgarh government has appointed Arun Deo Gautam, a 1992-batch IPS officer, as the acting Director General of Police (DGP), following the retirement of Ashok Juneja on Monday.
Gautam, who currently serves as the Director General of Home Guard and Civil Security, also holds an additional charge as the Director of Public Prosecution. According to an order issued by the state home department, he will temporarily take over the role of DGP while continuing with his existing responsibilities until further notice.
Ashok Juneja, a 1989-batch IPS officer, was initially appointed as acting DGP on November 11, 2021, before being confirmed as the full-time DGP on August 5, 2022. Although he was due to retire in August 2023, the state government granted him a six-month extension, which concluded on Monday.
With Gautam at the helm, the state police department transitions under new leadership as it awaits a permanent appointment for the crucial post.
