Itanagar, May 10 – In a bid to foster unity and interfaith harmony in the wake of Operation Sindoor, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd) convened a 'Sarva Dharma Meet' at the Raj Bhavan on Saturday. The event brought together representatives from diverse religious communities, including indigenous, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, and Christian faiths, as well as civil society members, educators, and intellectuals.
Clarifying Operation Sindoor and Its Intent
Addressing the gathering, Governor Parnaik provided a detailed overview of Operation Sindoor, which was launched on May 7 in response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. He stressed that the mission was a calculated and restrained action aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure at nine targeted sites."The operation was not a retaliation," Parnaik asserted. "It was a necessary action to protect Indian citizens and uphold national security." He emphasized the precision with which the operation was executed, ensuring that civilian lives and military assets were not harmed.
National Leadership and Military Precision
Parnaik, who once led the Indian Army’s Northern Command, underscored the strategic synergy between India’s political and military leadership in planning the operation. He credited the guidance from the highest echelons for ensuring the operation remained focused and effective.He also revealed that Pakistani forces attempted to target religious institutions to stir communal unrest in India, but those efforts were neutralized due to the vigilance of Indian armed forces.
Reinforcing India’s Global Stand
Governor Parnaik reassured attendees that India acted within the framework of self-defence, a stance that has been acknowledged by the international community. "Global support for India's measured response is a testament to the shared understanding that security underpins peace," he said.Urging Communal Harmony and Alertness
The governor warned against the dangers of misinformation and called on citizens to remain vigilant. He lauded the unshakable unity and wisdom of the Indian people, which he said would counter any divisive attempts.Parnaik also reminded the audience of the patriotic legacy of Arunachal Pradesh, citing the state's resolute support for the armed forces during the 1962 Sino-India War. He stated that this spirit of nationalism continues to affirm the state's integral role in the nation's unity.
